Someone is sneaking through a door. A building is burning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that\u2019s when the story begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And not with, \u201cOnce upon a time, there was a peaceful town\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Welcome to the world of in medias res \u2013 the narrative technique that grabs you from the first sentence and doesn\u2019t let you go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where does it come from?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The expression in medias res comes from Latin and means \u201cin the middle of things\u201d. This style was used by Homer in the Iliad. Instead of explaining why the Greeks are at the walls of Troy, Homer starts directly with the anger of Achilles \u2013 an anger that will change the fate of everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why is it so effective?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It arouses curiosity<br>The reader asks himself: \u201cWhat is happening here?\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It ignites the imagination<br>We enter the story without knowing what happened before \u2013 and we start to pick up the pieces ourselves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skip the boring beginning<br>No one wants three paragraphs of explanation. Sparks were flying. Someone had to stop it. And now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI models can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>start the story right at the climax;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rewind the action with a flashback;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>create interactive choices: \u201cDo you want to find out how it got here?\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Education and entertainment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The in medias res approach is a goldmine for educational content.
