The faster the world develops, the sharper the differences become between each individual generation. To the point where the work environment can no longer change in line with all the different generations it “houses”. Today (almost) every workplace has a large age gap between the oldest and youngest employees in it. This should be a good thing – a wide range of perspectives and experience or simply fresh ideas from energetic new talent. All the necessary ingredients for an organization to move forward and upward. But as in nature, different breeds sniff each other out and often have difficulty getting along.
The workplace, however, does not belong exclusively to one generation. And today for the first time it is shared among at least three, each with their own expectations, priorities and most importantly – work style. And while the work environment clashes with “minds” from different times, there will always be misunderstandings and contradictions. Only recognizing and understanding them can reduce tension and most importantly – teach everyone how to work effectively together to become a colorful yet productive team.
The clash, however, does not begin in the workplace, but in school. And worst of all, it is a clash between generations and teachers, between managers and in a way their subordinates. Over time it becomes clear that the new generations coming in cannot and even cannot adapt to our education system; rather, it should be the other way around – the education system should change according to the needs of the modern student. As you know, however, changes in our education system do not happen easily, nor always as they should. That is why the teacher is faced with the challenge of finding solutions to the problems that arise on their own, because they are the only ones directly affected in this case.
